TMCS1100: Reinforced insulation rating

Part Number: TMCS1100

Hello TI,

the TMCS1100 has a basic insulation rating of 600 VDC according to IEC 62368-1

Would it be possible to receive a reinforced insulation rating at a lower voltage?

For our application a reinforced rating of 150 VDC would be sufficient.

Best regards,

Felix Elsaesser

  • Felix,

I am checking with our systems team on this to see if this is possible. However, I unfortunately do not believe reinforced isolation will be achievable with these devices. The TMCS110x family is only rated for basic isolation. I will let you know if this is possible once I hear back from our team.

  • Felix,

Most reinforced isolation applications require > 8 mm creepage/clearance, while most basic isolation applications require > 4 mm creepage/clearance. Obviously, the TMCS110x family of devices will not be capable of 8mm clearance in the 8D package.

I'm sure there are a few lower voltage applications where reinforced isolation at < 8 mm creepage/clearance is possible, but we typically do not claim reinforced isolation with the TMCS110x family of devices. In general, reinforced isolation is often referred to as "double" isolation and standards indicate halving the voltage to adhere to reinforced guidelines. That being said, we do not promote these are reinforced isolation capable devices.
