PGA460PSM-EVM: To get the raw data of echo and use the PGA460 without EVM

Part Number: PGA460PSM-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BOOSTXL-PGA460, PGA460, ENERGIA

I brought a BOOSTXL-PGA460 ultrasonic device, and download the EVM to use it. But now I have some problem to solve, so here are two question:

  1. For some reason, I want to get the raw data of the echo with the .wav format, could you please tell me how to do this?
  2. For more conveniently use the device, I want to drive the PGA460 device with Matlab or python, is there some way to achieve it?

Look forward to your reply, thanks!

  • Hello Songjiang,

Thanks for posting to the sensing forum!

    1. For some reason, I want to get the raw data of the echo with the .wav format, could you please tell me how to do this?
      1. Unfortunately we don't support wav files for the raw echo data, since wav files sound files I dont know how useful they would be since ultrasonic waves are inaudible to human hearing. We offer output of the data in txt, csv and xml formats. You can also choose if you want the ADC data directly or if you want it from different stage of the DSP chain. You can choose these in the data monitor page under the export tab of the GUI. I have included an image below for reference on where to find some of these options.
    2. For more conveniently use the device, I want to drive the PGA460 device with Matlab or python, is there some way to achieve it?
      1. This should be possible but this is not something I have done. I would try to search online for ways to use the MSP-EXPF5529LP along with Matlab or Python. We do have a set of code examples for use with Energia in case this is useful in any way. You can download those here: https://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slac741

    I hope this helps!

    Best,
