TMP6EVM: CE/EU Declaration of Conformity (aka EU DoC) required

Part Number: TMP6EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP103EVM, TMP116EVM, TMP1827EVM

Hi

Please can you provide the CE/EU Declaration of Conformity for TMP6EVM?

I could not find this on T.I website.

Thank you in advance

  • Hi Chris,

We currently do not have a CE/EU Declaration of Conformity to provide for the TMP6EVM.

    Jalen

  • Hello

Thank you for your initial response, I am going to need further clarification, please.

CE/EU Declaration of Conformity are mandatory for products that are CE certified/marked. And CE is mandatory for the products to be suitable to the EU market if the product is under one (or more of the CE directive calling for CE marking)

Could you please kindly clarify the points below:

    1. If the product is not CE certified/marked?

    2. And if not CE certified/marked:

    a) Are you saying that this product is not destined for the EU market?

    or

    b) Is the product somehow outside the scope of the CE requirement?

If the latter, please kindly explain how CE is not required for this circuit board.

Important: All similar Temperature Sensor Development Tools from Texas Instruments I have come across so far have been identified by Texas Instruments as under the scope of CE marking requirement (and with CE/EU Declarations of Conformity accordingly) - such as :
TMP103EVM (T.I CE/EU Declaration of Conformity click HERE),
TMP116EVM (T.I CE/EU Declaration of Conformity Click HERE
TMP1827EVM ((T.I CE/EU Declaration of Conformity Click HERE)

    3. Is this SKU (TMP6EVM) sold with a USB cable?

Thank you so much, in advance for your support,

  • Chris,

This EVM was developed about 5 years ago, I'll have to take a look back to get answers to your questions. Please give me a day to find answers.

    Thanks,

    Jalen

  • Chris,

As of now, the TMP6EVM is NOT approved for CE/EU. The product is not CE marked.

The product is sold with a USB Cable.

    Jalen

  • Hello Jalen

In your response, you advised there is no CE/EU Declaration of Conformity for TMP6EVM. You advised the product is not CE, I understand the USB cable is not CE either.

    1. Products under the scope of CE marking requirements, that are not CE marked, are not suitable to be placed on the EU market.

    2. Only products that are under the scope of CE can be CE marked/certified.

    3. We know that similar other Temperature Sensor Development Tools from T.I. (ref example from my previous message) are under the scope of CE (and CE certified), which would lead to the conclusion that this product is also under the scope of CE.

--> Consequently am I right to understand that this product TMP6EVM is therefore not suitable for the EU markets and should not be offered to consumers in the EU market?

If my understanding is not correct, please kindly explain how CE would not apply to this product.

    Thank you

  • Chris,

Let me take a look into whether there is history of a DoC certificate being generated or if there was any mistake on CE marking of this product.

    Jalen

  • Hello Jalen,

I hope the example I provided you in our previous exchange, of the other similar boards with CE and EU Declaration of Conformity will help you.

I will wait to hear back from you. Thank you

  • Chris,

Yes, I will get back with you when I get further details.

    Thanks,

    Jalen

  • Hi Chris,

As things stand today, the TMP6EVM has no CE marking and is not under the scope of CE, as such there is no DoC document for the TMP6EVM.

We do plan to get this document generated but there is some work on the backend needed and it will likely take a couple months before the documentation can be published.

    Jalen

  • Hi Jalen

Can you please confirm i understood T.I plan / your previous message above correctly:

Do you mean that T.I is planning on getting the product CE and providing the EU Declaration of Conformity?

And if yes, it it the EU Declaration of Conformity that you estimated will take a couple of months to be ready?

  • Chrsis,

Yes you understand correctly that we are going to get the product CE and provide the EU Declaration of Conformity. This process should take about 4-6 weeks from now.

    Jalen

  • Hi Jalen

Thank you very much for the clarification.

CE marking (and EU Declaration of Conformity) is obligatory for products for which EU specifications exist and require the affixing of CE marking.
Equally, it is forbidden to affix CE marking to other products.

    See source: https://single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu/single-market/ce-marking_en

You confirmed in your message above that the product is under the scope of CE and will be CE certified in about 4-6 weeks.

Consequently, I would therefore understand that until the product is CE certified, it is not suitable for the EU markets.

Please can you confirm if my understanding is correct?

    If not please explain further.

    Chris

  • Chris,

    Your understanding is correct.

    Jalen

  • Hi Jalen

So, doe that mean that T.I is going to stop offering this product to the EU market until certification is complete?

  • Chris,

We are circling around on the same topic. As I've mentioned, the EVM will be CE tested and a DoC will be provided within the following weeks.

Until then, the product is not CE certified (as there is no CE marking on the EVM) and not suitable for the EU market until certification is complete.
