Hi.
From IWRL 6432
If you read the range fft value and the point coordinate value, there is a short range offset.
Support how to remove DC offset before fft?

Hello, I work with a writer of this thread.
We are using modified cfg from default Motion detection cfg.
However, the configuration parameter you mentioned above is 1 in defult and modified cfg files.
The DC offset we considered is apparentl not related with clutterRemoval.
I attached some pictures to understand.
IWRL6432 is placed on the right side of laptop for all pictures.
The board is our customizing module and it has the same antenna design as EVM.
I downloaded default cfg of motion detection(including set 1 for clutterRemoval).

<A> <B> <C>
In <A>, 6432 is facing outside of glass window.
In <B>, 6432 is looking in a corridor.
In <C>, 6432 is looking at a person in a corridor.
As you can see, for all cases, there is a strong signal strength for short range around zero meter in a Range Profile Window.
I would like to know the way how to remove the strong DC offset.
Regard.
Hello,
Sorry for the delay here. Thank you for including the pictures and descriptions of your tests. The strong signal near 0m is due to the antenna coupling of Tx and Rx antenna. You can see this thread for an explanation: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/623489/awr1642-antenna-coupling-signature-and-its-compensation-algorithm-in-mmw-demo
For previous generation devices there was an algorithm which could be used to remove this DC signature but that feature is not currently supported with this SDK. The reason I asked about the clutterRemoval setting was because these reflections are stationary and thus are expected to be filtered out when clutterRemoval is enabled. Your results seem to contradict this which is peculiar. I will try to investigate this on my side and get back to you with my findings.
Best Regards,
Josh
Thanks a lot.
I feel sad that the latest SDK doesn't support to remove DC signature.
Is there no way to remove DC based on current SDK?
And, when does SDK include that function?
Regards.
Hello,
I apologize again for the delay. I am inquiring about this with our algorithms team. As I mentioned before this is not currently built into the SDK, you may be able to do some averaging of the data with an empty scene and subtract away the DC signature. Please allow me to get back to you tomorrow with more information.
Best Regards,
Josh
