DRV5032: Is it a problem that voltage is applied to the sensor output pin before Vcc of DRV5032 is turned ON?

Hi,

The current circuit configuration applies a voltage to the sensor output pin prior to powering up the sensor.

Is it a problem that voltage is applied to the sensor output terminal before Vcc of DRV5032 turns ON (when Vcc=0V)?

Thanks,

Conor

  • Conor,

Thank you for reaching out on E2E with your question.  It would be best if you could move the pull-up to the other side of the switch.  The Absolute maximum spec for the output pin on this device is not rated to handle voltages higher than Vcc:

With the device connected such that OUT is powered to 3.3V while VCC floats, there is a risk of causing electrically induced damage to the silicon.

    Thanks,

    Scott
