TMAG5170-Q1: System Level Drift Compensation

Part Number: TMAG5170-Q1

Hi,

how does the system-level drift compensation work? I'm not seeing a full description of what this is or what it means?

thanks

  • Chad,

The intent here is that the MCU can read die temperature data and then use this with calibration data to attempt correcting for the temperature drift seen at the system level.  The sensor uses the temperature data to attempt to compensate for the drift of the magnet using the MAG_TEMPCO register

This only impacts the applied sensitivity gain in an effort to counter the negative temperature coefficient for the magnet material.  Any offsets, mechanical variation, and sensor mismatch will not be compensated for by the device.  To eliminate these error sources, your calibration routine would need to evaluate this behavior against the output Temperature data.

    Thanks,

    Scott
