Formatting the SSD is a necessary step?

Yes, it is always recommended to format the SSD as a first step.

Is this a quality issue with the DSP board and can I just make a return or exchange?

Thanks for the post and welcome to E2E - we are looking into this - sorry for the delay. 

Would you please take a picture of the SSD mounted, so we can confirm part # and manufacturer? 

also, can you try this procedure? 

• Open Tera Term or similar UART console on Host PC.
  • File -> New Connection -> Serial -> COMxxx(Generally, first port listed)
  • Configure UART on Host PC to 8N1 (8-bit data, no parity, 1 stop bit) settings at 115200 Baud.
• Ensure boot switches are in correct position 

• Insert Micro SD card with TDA2x Cascade Host software into MicroSD Card Slot (J15) on bottom of the board.
• UART terminal should run until a login screen is shown. Login.
• The Cascade EVM EEPROM will have to be programmed in order for demo to recognize SSD and execute use case.
• Upon successfully flashing EEPROM, power cycle board and move on to next step.
  • Note: EEPROM must be flashed before being able to format SSD drive.
• After power cycling the board and reaching the “Login” screen again.

• After successfully formatting the SSD drive, power cycle the board. Login, and run the Linux command “df” to verify that the SSD is formatted, partitioned and mounted on this TDA2 board. User should see a filesystem labeled “/dev/nvme0n1p1” mounted on “/mnt/ssd”

Is there a way to fix this at the moment, please? If there is no solution, can I contact the customer service center for a refund or exchange?

Did you by chance attempt to mount/remount the SSD as described?

Yes, but it still doesn't work. It still doesn't recognize the SSD.

Since opening the box, I have been unable to recognize the SSD card. Despite trying various methods, I still cannot recognize it.

So I hope to contact the customer service center for a return or exchange
