TMCS1108: TMCS1108 offset error calculation

Part Number: TMCS1108

Hello All ,

I am calculating the offset error for TMCS1108 current sensor . the part can measure upto ±5.75 A  of DC and AC current .

In my application , the measurement range is ±0.70 A only . With this short current range the offset error % will increase.

In this formula , what should be the value of I_IN ? is it 1.4A  (considering the entire range) or 0.7A ?

What other errors apart from PSRR , CMRR , Ext field  will be impacted due to not utilising the full scale current range ?

Thanks.

  • Hello Rohan,

For these equations, you would use 0.7A, as Table 10-2 shows the maximum total error given a specific current. In general, the error % will be higher when measuring a current closer to 0A, so any of the equations that use the value IIN will affect your overall error when not using the entire range (ie, the error at currents closer to 0A). Also, it's important to note that the noise levels of the device may make it hard to get a very precise measurement at very small current values.

    Regards,
