LDC1614EVM: how to use digital output from LDC1614

Hello Team,

We want to develop rotary inductive encoder using LDC1614, below are the spec of that encoder.

Channel - 2 (90 degree phase shift between them)

Output- Incremental

Pule per revolution (PPR) - 1 to 1024

We are thinking to use LDC1614 and MS430 process. to process output data in required format we try to capture signal at CH0 as shown in below image but without putting any metal we it is showing square wave pulse. ideally without any metal it should not show any data right ? Please guide to where to check output of LDC1614 before going into microcontroller. what kind of output will be available at LDC1614 output.

Sayali,

Please take a look at the LDC1314 inductance-to-digital converter evaluation module: 1-degree dial EVM and its user's guide.
The LDC1314 is very similar to the LDC1614 so this EVM should provide some guidance for your design.

Hello Miller,

I went through that module , still we are facing some challenge . we just want to see output of LDC . please help us to check exact which pin we need to see output of LDC. we have LDC1314DIAL EVM and also LDC1614 EVM.

or to see digital output it is possible to integrate with Arduino to establish I2C communication.

Sayali,

The LDC1614 I2C pins are the SCL and SDA device pins.
You will also need to use the ADDR pin for addressing, along with a register setting that is compatible with your application.

hello John,

we were able to capture raw data at input channel of LDC1614.

is it possible to check any signal on above mentioned I2C pins i.e. SCL,SDA,INT and SD oscilloscope.

we want to check output of LDC on CRO without I2C.

we try to check on GUI but on GUI output is getting in frequency format and we want to explore only LDC output

If I understand your question correctly: the I2C pins are the only way to output data from the LDC1614.

Hello John,

from this I2C I cannot check output on oscilloscope right . I need make communication through microcontroller only right .
Is there other pin of microcontroller where I can check data of LDC on oscilloscope.

I am asking this because to generate logic as per our requirement I need to understand what kind of digital data I am getting from LDC.

Is there any other way to check LDC output on oscilloscope.

Sorry, but there is no analog output for the LDC1614.
