LM96163: PMBus Timing Question

Part Number: LM96163

Hi expert,

Customer used LM96163 and has some questions regarding data hold time spec. DS define tHD:DAT = 300ns ~ 1075ns but what customer measured is 2139ns which is over the maximum spec.

What we understand from PMBus2.0 standard 3.1.1 common AC specification, there is no data hold time maximum limit.

So far customer didn't see any real communication issue but just want to clarify is it any concern?

Regards,

Allan

  • It is normal for hold time to exceed the specification at lower clock frequencies. Target devices (formerly known as slave) take no action in response to hold time and will operate normally as long as other timing requirements (such as setup time) are met.

The standards did previously have a maximum hold time, and many products released at that time featured the specification from the standard in order to appear compatible.

    thanks,
