MMWCAS-RF-EVM: (AWR1243) Capture data using ROS on Ubuntu 18

Part Number: MMWCAS-RF-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243, , AWR2243, MMWCAS-DSP-EVM

I aim to utilize MMWCAS-RF-EVM (AWR1243), along with both the lidar and the RGB-D camera simultaneously for capturing data. Consequently, I require these sensors to operate on Ubuntu 18.I found three possible solutions for this topic but they cannot really work:

1. From Github:

https://github.com/azinke/mmwave.git

This is a package for AWR2243, however, my sensor is 1243. I changed the firmware and it did not work. No errors but also no data captured. I have checked each of the FPGA CDONE LED on the back of the MMWCAS-DSP-EVM PCB.

2. PROCESSOR-SDK-RADAR

Its user guide shows that it only supports Ubuntu 14. But I want it to work on Ubuntu 18.

3. ti_mmwave_rospkg ROS driver

https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?a=1AslXXD__1.00.00.26&node=A__AGvTEJkh-csqqwXnVhDbTQ__radar_toolbox__1AslXXD__LATEST

It only supports 14xx, 16xx, 18xx, 68xx.

Is there a solution available that is compatible with Ubuntu 18 for MMWCAS-RF-EVM (AWR1243)?

Thanks!

  • Hi

please expect a delay due to thanksgiving holidays.

Will get back to you by next week.

    Regards,

  • Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have a solution compatible with Ubuntu 18.

I think the easiest path is for you to update the Processor SDK demo to Ubuntu 18.

Unfortunately, the team that developed this demo is no longer available for support.

All support would have to come from forum community

    thank you

    Cesar

  • In the example provided by mmwave_dfp_02_02_04_00 for the AWR2243 MMWCAS-RF-EVM, it's demonstrated that the AWR2243 has the capability to simultaneously download firmware for all slave devices. As mmwave_dfp_01_02_06_03 doesn't offer a similar API example for downloading slave firmware, I'm inquiring whether the AWR1243 is capable of supporting similar functionalities? I modified the API of AWR 2243, used it on AWR1243, and got the retVal = RL_RET_CODE_RADAR_OSIF_ERROR error. Thanks!
  • Hi,

You should check the dfp release that supports 1243 to see if this API is supported.

Unfortunately our team no longer supports 1243

    Thank you
