TMP61-Q1: Temperature Sensors mounting Location on PCB for TI (Temp sensor TMP 61-Q1)

Part Number: TMP61-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISOTMP35

How to mount Temperature sensor part no as TMP 61-Q1 near MOSFET on PCB , what kind practice we should follow to mount that temperature sensor near to MOSFET?

Can we get proper guidelines for mounting option?

what kind of feasibility we will get when we used Lug type temperature sensor near mounting point of MOSFET?

Is there any conducting glue option for mounting on MOSFET? Can we used this type of provision?

  • Hi Pravin,

In general, we recommend mounting the temperature sensing element as close as possible to the heat source to provide the closest and most accurate temperature as well as using cutouts to reduce thermal mass for improved response. In terms of mounting, it will depend on the application as you may need isolation circuitry to avoid damage to the thermistor and ADC if you are using a high-voltage power MOSFET. Depending on the needs of your application, you could use a lug-mount approach. I will also recommend looking at our new ISOTMP35 device. This device features integrated isolation and can have the HV side mounted directly to the ground plane of a power MOSFET with improved thermal response and accuracy across the temperature range.
