TMAG5231: Is it possible to work with 1.55V of power supply voltage?

Part Number: TMAG5231

Hi team,

1. Is TMAG5231 possible to work with 1.55V of power supply voltage? Because the power supply for TMAG5231 is silver oxide battery(1.55V).

Best regards,

Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • Yamamoto-san,

Thank you for reaching out on E2E regarding TMAG5231.  Unfortunately, the recommended operating range for the device is from 1.65 to 5.5 V

This is the supply voltage range the device was characterized with, and so I cannot guarantee any performance at 1.55V. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this causes, I will send this information along to our team for future considerations.

    Thanks,

    Scott

  • Hi Scott,

Thank you for replying my message. May I ask you one more question?

May I know why the minimum supply voltage is 1.65V?

TMAG5231 can possibly work with the supply voltage of 1.55V?

    Best regards,

    Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • Yamamoto-san,

The minimum supply of 1.65 is the lower limit for digital supplies which operate at 1.8V.  The intent here is to have the device output compatible with those systems.

It might be possible that the device could function at 1.55V, but there is no guaranteed performance.  If it was tested for production and then implemented, there is a chance that a device may not function properly or meet specifications.  In this case it would be necessary to screen that device out to prevent a faulty system.

Even if it behaves correctly at room temperature, it would be difficult what to expect at corner cases of temperature, process, or voltage.

    Thanks,

    Scott
