AWR1843BOOST: Connectivity Issues with mmWave Studio

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM

I am trying to connect the AWR1843BOOST board with a DCA1000EVM chipset to extract raw ADC data from the radars, but kept running into multiple errors.

I have followed all the procedures mentioned in the video for the setup of the radar. I am attaching below a pdf document which contains all the steps followed and the errors faced with images.

Looking to connect with someone to help get this error resolved.

Thanks!

  • Hi Parjanya,

Can you please check if the S2 switch on the EVM is set to CAN or SPI? Set SW2 to SPI instead of CAN.
Refer to mmwave_studio_<ver>/docs/mmwave_studio_user_guide.pdf for more information.

  • The S2 switch was set to SPI only, I had referred to the other user guide also and still I faced this issue.

  • Hi Parjanya,

You have mentioned that you are able to connect with SPI successfully at some point. So, I suggest you to disconnect all the cables, power cycle the device and reconnect.

You have also mentioned that you are facing issue while connecting to DCA1000. Make sure you are using two micro-USB cables and ethernet cable. One micro-USB cable to connect to AWR1843EVM XDS110 interface and the other one to connect to DCA1000 for FTDI interface. Also ensure that you have configured static IP address on the PC.

  • Hi Samhitha,

I had actually reset my computer to reinstall all the software again to see if that was issue. Now I have installed everything once again, but when im trying to run the mm-Wave Demo visualizer it keeps showing this:

When I had first tried setting up the radar, I failed the same issue but forgot what I had done to fix it.

In response to your reply, I had done all the steps that you mentioned. I did multiple restarts to the device, disconnected all the cables. I used two micro-USB cables and an ethernet cable but kept having the same issue.

  • Hi Parjanya,

when im trying to run the mm-Wave Demo visualizer it keeps showing this:

Are you running the SDK demo? Do you want to capture ADC data while running the demo? If yes, you can try using Studio CLI tool present in the Radar Toolbox (ti.com)
