TMCS1108: Designing with TMCS1108

Part Number: TMCS1108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV9061

Hello Team,
Thank you for your support in my previous post.
This thread is a continuation of the post link.
We are using the IC TMCS1108 to measure the current.
The current can flow in both the direction. That is why we are using bidirectional current sensor.A voltage follower using the OPAMP TLV9061SIDBVR is used at the output of the TMCS1108.
The output of the buffer is directly fed to an ADC and is parallelly connected to a window comparator using the comparator IC TLV1702AQDGKRQ1.
We need over current protection in both the directions, that is the reason why we are using window comparator. Link

Can anyone please confirm whether we need to connect the window comparator before or after the voltage follower.
What difference does it make.

Looking for your reply.

  • Hello,

Thank you for reaching out again.

I see that you are using the slew rate of the TLV9061 to slow down the response.

I would say that this depends on what speed you are looking for. For a faster comparator response to the bidirectional overcurrent, I would connect the comparator to the output of the TMCS1108. This would also give you a quicker comparator response and, for a more detailed waveform, a slightly delayed ADC output. Does that make sense?

    This would be my recommendation.

    Best Regards,

    Joe
