TMAG5273: Production testing in ICT

Part Number: TMAG5273

We incorporate TMAG5273 into our product design. It is essential for us to conduct ICT testing on all active parts after soldering them to the PCB. Is there an optimal method to test the part in line without directly applying a magnetic field? If testing with a magnet is necessary, do you have a recommended procedure?"

  • Hi Manoj,

Thank you for posting to the Sensors forum!

I would recommend testing the device with a magnet. To do this, you could have a fixed location for the magnet with relation to the device, then probe the I2C lines to read the result registers. This should allow you to see the result register values at some non-zero number (based on the magnetic field present). Just be sure to enable the MAG_CH_EN bits.

    Best,

    ~Alicia

  • Thanks Alicia , would you please let me know the failure modes of the Magnet sensor. Is there a possibility that the sensor provide a saturated value in the absence of magnetic field?

  • Hi Manoj,

The failure modes of the device should be listed in the status registers of the Register Map. In the absence of a magnetic field, the result registers will report some value close to zero +/- some noise.

    Best,
