TMP1827: Standard mode and Overdrive mode

Part Number: TMP1827

Hi Team,

1) Please tell me advantage and disadvantage each of Standard mode and Overdrive mode, except for speed.
2) Is Standard mode more resistant to noise than Overdrive mode?

Best regards,

  • Overdrive is about ten times faster than Standard mode.

Power savings can be realized when less time is spent communicating.

In bus-powered mode, Overdrive must be used to achieve low voltages and/or high temperatures.

Standard mode can support more parasitic bus capacitance typically found on cabling applications.

If the bus is held low for too long, devices will exit Overdrive mode. It will be necessary to use Standard mode communication to re-enable Overdrive communication. This potentially complicates controller development for Overdrive, because both modes must be supported. If Standard mode is selected, it's not necessary to develop Overdrive support.

Noise immunity shouldn't differ between modes. The input and output capabilities are the same in both modes.
