Hi TI,

I'm interested in ordering a capacitive measurement kit for textile capacitance measurement and data processing afterward. I have a few questions and concerns:

Can the kit support more than 4 channels, ideally 14-15?
Is there a wireless interface option available for this kit?
Are there any other kits available with a higher number of channels?
Can the kit be connected to a Raspberry Pi or another control unit to perform additional operations after data measurement?

Hi Sushant,

1. This device cannot support more than 4 channels. Multiple devices would need to be used for additional channels.

2. We do not have any wireless option directly available for the kit. You would need to add the wireless communication.

3. You could look at the MSP430 CaptiVate devices. They offer up to 16 channels on a single device.

4. Sure, you could connect to the FDC2214 via I2C to obtain the data and perform post processing.

Thank you for your assistance. Following your valuable suggestion, we have decided to proceed with the purchase of the MSP430 CaptiVate devices. While reviewing the product specifications, I came across a mention of an EVM kit that accesses a control panel via Bluetooth. Could you please provide more details about this feature?

Specifically, I would like to understand if this Bluetooth capability requires an additional interface kit or if it is included with the EVM kit. Additionally, could you explain how this Bluetooth interface functions and how it integrates with the control panel?

The EVM currently supports these kits found in the in the "Access Control Panel with Bluetooth® Low Energy and Capacitive Touch Reference Design" (design number: TIDM-1004): MSP-EXP432P401R development kit, BOOSTXL-CC2650MA BoosterPack plug-in module, and BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1 BoosterPack plug-in module. The EVM also currently supports these kits found in the "SimpleLink MSP432 MCU With MSP430 Capacitive Touch MCU, Haptics, and LCD Reference Design" (design number: TIDM-CAPTIVATE-MSP432): MSP-EXP432P401R development kit and BOOSTXL-K350QVG-S1 BoosterPack plug-in module.

Sushant,

Please note that the MSP430 CAPTIVATE solutions are supported by the MSP430 MCU team. I took a look for TIDM-1004, but I couldn't find much information on it. I would recommend posting on the MSP430 forum to see if a bluetooth solution is available. I have provided a link to the forum below.
