AWR2944EVM: How should I calculate the input current range of the EVM?

Part Number: AWR2944EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2944

Hi

I noticed that the DCDC of LM63635DQDRRRQ1 is one of the power supply links of AWR2944EVM, and I have been using the recommended 12V, 2.5A power supply in AWR2944EVM as the power supply of AWR2944EVM in the past. Recently, my colleague bought a 12V, 3A power adapter and asked whether this power adapter can supply power to AWR2944EVM? It seems that compared with the original power adapter, only the current has changed from 2.5A to 3A, and nothing else has changed.

My colleague's question bothers me. I consulted the specification sheet of LM63635 and noticed that there is no clear introduction about the specific limited range of input current. May I ask whether my colleague's 12V 3A output DCDC can supply power to AWR2944EVM?

For TI's DCDC or PMIC products, how should I calculate the input current limit range?

thanks

  • Hello,

Anything with 12V >= 2.5A will work. If you want to calculate the power needed you need to check each device datasheet and look at the power consumption numbers. For example, below is the data for AWR2944. From there you can add up the power for all of the devices on the board.
