PGA460-Q1: How to get two echoes from the two objects spaced by less than 5 cm ?

Hello TI Team,

for 40KHz transducer, as shown in plot below pulse duration comes out as ~15 cm. Can we resolve the two objects placed at 5 cm difference? In that case since distance is less than 15 cm so second echo will get resolved into first echo. Is there any way to increase this resolution? I want two different echoes for object spaced by less than 5 cm.

Hello Mahesh,

Thanks for posting to the sensors forum. The resolution is mainly dependent on two factors the transducer frequency and the speed of sound in the medium you are measuring. Since you cant control the speed of sound then the only option is really the transducers frequency, so in order to increase resolution you would need to increase the transducer frequency.

Are you transmitting through air or water? And do you know what your max measurement distance is?
