TMCS1126: ADCs for Manual Gauges and Manual Sliders. Looking for potentiometers or rotary encoders

Tool/software:

I have many manual gauges that control the position of a setpoint/setting in mm or in. I want to be able to convert those manual gauges into digital data so that I can know what are the settings being changed to. These manual gauges vary slightly in size but I wan to know what recommendation or application is out there relating potentiometers or rotary encoders to be able to convert the analog gauges into data I can acquire. I also have manual sliders which would want to get dat from. What would the overall structure of the process look like?

I think you have the wrong device tagged. The TMCS1126 is for current sensing. The tag is used to guide the question to the correct engineers at TI. One method of encoding would be to use a diametric magnet with a 3d linear hall effect sensor (like the TMAG5273) that measures sin and cosine as you rotate the magnet in you knob. For a quick way to see what kind of signals you would measure for a given magnet and device, you could use our TIMSS tool: https://webench.ti.com/timss/. Within that tool we provide examples for different applications that you could potentially use as a quick starting point.
