LM95233: LM95233 design

Part Number: LM95233
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP432

Tool/software:

Dear TI Team:

We plan to use TI thermal sensor--LM95233 to replace ADI component MAX6695YAUB-T

1. Could you pls check this replacement is ok or not, or any other need highlight?

2. We try to use BJT as below for remote sensor, Is it ok, or do you have better suggestion?

Diodes:MMBT3904-7-F,  Nexperia:PMBS3904, Toshiba:TMBT3904,LM(T

3.Do you have layout guide or tips for the thermal sensor and remote sensor?

Thanks

Best Regards

Lisa

  • Hello Lisa,

    1) LM95233 and MAX6695YAUB-T are pretty good matches but keep in mind that the pinout does not match. TI does not have a temperature sensor that matches the pinout to MAX6695YAUB-T. Below is a comparison between LM95233 and MAX6695YAUB-T. Are you interested in the TruTherm Technology? If you interested in Automatic Beta, TMP432 is a good option as well.

    LM95233 MAX6695YAUB-T
    Temp Range -40C to 140C -40C to 125C
    Package 14 WSON 10 uMax
    Vin 3 to 3.6V 3 to 3.6V

    2) All BJTs looks good.

    3) For tips in layout design please refer to the following document:

  • Hi Meredith:

    Thanks for your reply.

Are you interested in the TruTherm Technology? If you interested in Automatic Beta, TMP432 is a good option as well.

==>This is my first time to use thermal sensor,

Could you share the difference between the TruTherm Technology and Automatic Beta on HW and SW design?

    Thanks

    Best Regards

    Lisa

  • Hello Lisa,

I have notice that you choice LM95233 which had TruTherm technology. I was curious if LM95233's TruTherm interested you. There is no hardware of software changes when it comes to TruTherm and Beta correction. What features are you looking for a temperature sensor? I can help direct you to what you are looking for.

  • Hi Meredith:

Generally, I will list the parameters as below for comparison(ADI is on demoboard and TI is the one we plan to use), and this is my first time to use thermal sensor, And I donot know what the detail need to consider for thermal sensor application.Could you pls instruct me.Thanks

  • Hello Lisa,

The comparison table that you provided contains key specifications to look for temperature sensors comparison. In regard to details to consider for choosing a temperature sensor, it depends on the application. LM95233 is a good option but TMP432 is a newer and improved part to consider. TMP432 provides better accuracy in the temperature measurement.
