DCA1000EVM: Issue with Parameter Modification in MMWAVE Studio Using MATLAB and AWR1642 Radar

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

Tool/software:

Dear Texas Instruments Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am currently using MATLAB to run MMWAVE Studio in conjunction with the AWR1642 radar. I understand that parameter settings are configured using the config.lua file, as shown in the attached image.

However, even after modifying the parameter values in MATLAB, the output continues to reflect the same values as before.

Is it possible that I am modifying the wrong parameters? Or is there another method to change the lua settings effectively?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Kim

  • Hi Kim,

Please find my questions below -

    1. Which mmWave Studio version are you using?
    2. Is the config.lua a custom lua script written by you?
    3. How are you running the lua script from the studio?

    Regards,
    Anirban

  • Hello Anirban,

    Thank you for your reply.

I apologize for the delay in my response due to work commitments. Here are the details you requested:

    1. I am currently using mmWave Studio version 02.01.01.00.
    2. The config.lua file I am using was downloaded from a GitHub repository. The parameters within the file are as originally set by the person who uploaded it, and I would like to modify these settings.
    3. I am running the Lua script by using MATLAB to execute mmWave Studio. My goal is to run the radar and process raw data in real-time without manually configuring settings within mmWave Studio.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your reply.

    Best regards,
    Kim

  • Hi,

The config.lua file I am using was downloaded from a GitHub repository. The parameters within the file are as originally set by the person who uploaded it, and I would like to modify these settings.

We don't support any scripts that are outside of TI resources.

I'd suggest you to please go through the example lua scripts given in mmWave studio 2.1.1.0 in the Scripts folder. You can try the DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua example for data capture using DCA1000.

Let me know if you face any issue there.

    Regards,
    Anirban

  • Hello Anirban,

Thank you for your kind response. Thanks to your help, I was able to resolve the issue related to parameter changes. I apologize for any inconvenience, but I have one more question.

I am encountering an error where the file cannot be saved, as shown in the attached image. The error message states, "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Best regards,

    Kim.

  • Hello Anirban,

I hope you are doing well. I wanted to kindly follow up and ask if there is any update or response regarding my previous inquiry.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Best regards,
    Kim.
