IWR6243: What is the maximum radar cube size for IWR6243

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6243, IWR6843

Dear colleagues,

Datasheet of IWR6243 claims that there is no on-chip memory.

Does it mean that it is possible to use any memory size?

What are the limitations on memory size and other technical demands for the external memory chip?

It is necessary because I try to compare IWR6243 and IWR6843 regarding maximum radar cube size.

Best regards,

Grigor Mardiyan

  • Hi Grigor,

the IWR6243 has no internal Signal Processing. The Data from the Sampled Radar Signals needs to be transferred to a external Processor via MIPI CSI-2 or LVDS. Therefore the IWR6243 does not need internal memory for saving the samples, as you save those samples on an external processor. The "maximum radar cube size" in the case of the IWR6243 would come from the number of tx-rx channels, the maximum number of samples per chirp and the maximum number of chirps per frame. You can find those constraints in the "mmWave Radar Interface Control Document" from the DFP Package

    Best regards,
