HDC3020-Q1: Alert abnormal high

Part Number: HDC3020-Q1

Tool/software:

Team,

Customer only write 0x2130 command and then read 0xE000 register every 1.5s for temp and humidity. It works fine.

But they found Alert pin is always high even in normal room condition.

Then they read 0xF32D for status register, they get 0.

Then they check 0xE102, E11F, E109, E114 for all threshold setting, they also get 0. It is very strange it is not default value. They never "Transfer ALERT thresholds into Non-Volatile Memory (NVM)"

Then they program all threshold  in "Configure ALERT Thresholds of T and RH" register to below default value. Then they read back 0xE102, E11F, E109, E114 register to confirm they are all correctly programmed to below default table.  But Alert pin is still high.

The read back temperature is around "0x6630" , humidity is around "0x6891" during the test.

The phenomenon happens with all 10 boards under test.

Need your comment on this

  • Ryan,

Could the customer please share their schematic, and possibly a scope shot of what they are seeing on the ALERT pin? Is the ALERT pin high upon power up? Will a soft reset command resolve the ALERT output being high?

    Regards
