IWR6843ISK: mmWave Studio for IWR6843ISK won't work

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST,

Tool/software:

I have been using mmWave Studio for quite a while on my laptop.  I just got a new computer, and when I install mmWave Studio for the 6843ISK, it installs, but won't run.  It gets a fatal error message.  I have now tried installing on three different PCs with the same error.  I will not retry installing on my laptop, because it works and always has.  I am afraid it will give the same error and then I'm stuck with nothing.  Please see the screen shop error:

  • Hi,

  • Hello,

I have never seen this error, can you check the DCA1000 megathread and ensure every software prerequisite is met?

  • I am still not having any luck installing mmWaveStudio on any PC or windows version.  It is for using the 6843ISK device with a DCA1000.  My original laptop with the software still works fine.  I need a second PC to run.  It won't install without the error code showed on the previous post.   I need help NOW.  I think you should try installing it yourself and see if it works for you.  I think anyone trying would have the same issue.  Three months ago, it installed fine.  Now it doesn't.  Thanks.

  • Hello Larry,

What are the possible deltas between the working PC and the others? Unable to find entry point "X" in DLL "y" is a Microsoft Visual C++ based error. Check the programs installed on the working PC that could be related to MATLAB or Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable Packages and compare it to the ones on the not working. Do you have both Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package 32bit (x86) AND 64bit (x64) installations as mentioned in the FAQ?

  • Hi ,

I just went through the installation process on my computer as well.  I get an error in the Output window, although a different one from Larry.

    Steps I followed:

    • Downloaded and installed the Matlab runtime.
    • Checked that I have the Visual C++ redistributable
    • Downloaded and installed mmWave Studio 4.3.1.0
      • During the install, I clicked accept on all drivers and tools.

I don't have any dev kit connected to my computer.

    Here is the Output log:

  • Hello,

Your issue is not having MATLAB Runtime R2015aSP1 (v8.5.1) 32bit AND 64bit installations, as dictated by mclmcrrt8_5_1.dll not being found. Please ensure every piece of software is installed from the PC-Side list on the FAQ Page. Try restarting your computer if this has already been done.

  • This did not resolve my issue.  I have two computers with mmWaveStudio that was installed a while back, and works.  So I am not dead in the water.  But, an ongoing issue which is really frustrating has been going on for weeks and months, actually.  When I mate the IWR6843ISK board and DCA10000, everything works fine.  However, when using a MMWAVEICBOOST with those, it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.  Lately, when it stops working, it has become permanent at times.  The symptom is I can't get the RS232 to connect.  If I try then going back to just the DCA1000, no problem.  Yesterday, all three boards were working fine, then suddenly no RS232 connection.  The culprit again was the Boost board,  I could remove that board, and just use a DCA1000 with the 6843 and it works.  Back to adding the boost, no RS232 connection.  When looking at the Device Manager, the ports are all there as expected and correct.  One other Boost board I used months ago also quit working, and has never worked since.  Is there a possible code corruption or other type of issue I should know about?

    Regards,

    Larry
