Dear Support Team,

We are currently working on an automotive project that requires advanced solutions for proximity sensing and gesture control. We are particularly interested in technologies capable of accurately tracking finger positions near a surface without physical contact.

Could you please provide more details about your offerings and confirm if your solution can meet these requirements? Additionally, we would appreciate knowing if any customization options are available.

The proximity sensors of TI appear to align with our requirements. We would like to inquire if your technology can be customized for implementation in 8-inch or 10-inch displays. We need the exact x,y,z positional data of the fingers.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to your response.

  • Hello Arjun,

The title of this thread includes one of our Hall effect sensing devices (TMAG5170), which would likely require magnets, unless you are planning on providing burst of current to generate a magnetic field. Our inductive sensing options would require the displacement of metal to be considered. As for capacitive sensors, those can be used if you are wanting to detect fingers that do not contact the interface and in which the user is not wearing gloves with magnets or metal embedded in them. For the capacitive options, you might consider the FDC2112 or FDC2114.
