OPT3001: Why OPT3001 is not in the list of low-power illumination sensors

Part Number: OPT3001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT4001, OPT3002, OPT3006, OPT3007, OPT3004, OPT3005,

Tool/software:

We interviewed low light illuminance sensor part numbers at TI Chat and
We have received the following answers.

Regarding illuminance sensors, the following is a list of illuminance sensors:
www.ti.com/.../products.html
Low power consumption is OPT300X series (OPT4001, OPT3002, OPT3004, OPT3005, OPT3006, OPT3007), small operating current: 1.8µA (typical value).

The device I am currently using, OPT3001
However, the following is a list of illuminance sensors that are not included in the same list
I am not sure why it is not included in the list in terms of the following three points.
1. the flag of OPT3001 is active
2. The current consumption of OPT3001 is the same as the listed devices below.

(2) OPT3001's current consumption is the same as the listed devices.
Unless there is a reason that the OPT300X series has a lower current consumption than the OPT3001 series.
Please confirm that you would like to continue to use OPT3001.

  • Hello,

It seems as though there was some error on the TI chat's output. It looks like it listed OPT4001 by mistake even though the device consumes more current. The OPT300X includes the OPT3001 and has the same operating current as all other devices in the list, so it will still work for low power applications.

    Thanks,

    Daniel
