TMP432: Why is the tempture error is large from I2C?

Part Number: TMP432

Tool/software:

Hi AE,

I found that the temperature read from the TMP432 is much higher than the actual temperature.

Is it overcompensating from TMP432 ?

Do you have any suggestions for adjustment?

Best Regards

  • Hello Bruce,

I will try to assist here, however first I have a few questions to help figure out the issue.

    • Are you measuring using the local channel or one of the remote channels?
    • What are you using for the reference measurement? For example are you are using an RTD probe for the reference measurement?
      • Where is the reference probe placed with respect to the sensor? Please note it should be placed as close as possible to get an accurate reference measurement.
    • Is the goal to measure the ambient air temperature or a board/component temperature using the TMP432?
    • Can you please share the board layout and routing?
      • It is important to consider the layout and routing carefully to maintain the accuracy of the temp sensor. Otherwise, the sensor measurement will be affected by board heating, such as from power hungry components like CPUs, voltage regulators, etc.
      • Please see this app note for PCB design guidelines using temp sensors: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snoa967a/snoa967a.pdf

    Best,
