IWR6843: Why need separate LC filter for VIN_13RF1/2?

Part Number: IWR6843

Tool/software:

Hi,

Customer wants to know why TI suggests to use 2 LC filters for VIN_13RF1/2 separately, instead of connecting VIN_13RF1/2 and use one LC filter?

Thanks,

Chris

  • Hello Chris,

One LC filter is part of the DCDC converter itself, and output of the DCDC converter will have residual ripple/Noise on the supply line. If this is not filtered sufficiently then switching frequency of the DCDC converter will enter into RADAR baseband system. Radar has supply noise and ripple requirement (Please refer to datasheet ) to operate in its best performance, that needs additional filtering, hence another stage of LC filter (which provides additional 40-50dB filtering) on the DCDC output.

    Thanks and regards,
