HDC2010: The failure issue for HDC2010

Part Number: HDC2010

Tool/software:

Hi,

We use the HDC2010 for the temperature and humidity collection,

and now, The SMT processing factory will first help us mount the hygrometer onto the PCB.

After returning, we will conduct random humidity measurement by setting the temperature to 25C and the humidity to 30%, 50%, and 70% respectively in the test box.

The readings of the hygrometer on the PCBA will be compared with our standard source Rosennik hygrometer. If the error exceeds our standard, it will be judged as unqualified.

We find there are much more test data is not qualified, please refer to below test data form, and “fail“ is unqualified;

PGS4000-V3.0 20250716(4).xlsxPGS4000-V3.0 20250627(1).xlsx

Below is our schematic diagram:

The below is our I2C configuration:

1. The below is Humidity value analysis:

2. The below is temperature value analysis:

3. Please review our schematic diagram and I2C configuration, and advise that how to improve our design for this case, thanks.

  • Hi Zhang Liang,

I'll try to help out here, but first need to clarify my understanding.

Can you please help interpret/translate the data log below? Am I correct in thinking that the data includes (from left to right): Rotronic temperature, HDC2010 RH, Rotronic RH? Or did I get the order mixed up?

Can you please include HDC2010 temperature in the data log? To analyze the data, we need the RH and temperature measurements both from the HDC2010 and reference Rotronic.

    Best,

    Sakeenah

  • Hi Sakeenah,

    1. Sorry for I ignored this, and pleaes refer to below:

    2. You mean we need to provide the Rotronic temperature log in the form not only the Rotronic RH, right?

  • Hi Zhang Liang,

Can you please confirm that the "RH" column = Rotronic RH, and the "Converted RH" column = HDC2010 RH? So that means the RH error is about +5%RH?

If you can, yes please share the following in the data log: Rotronic temperature, Rotronic RH, HDC2010 temperature, HDC2010 RH. The reason I ask is because RH is dependent on temperature, so it's important to check that the temperature readings match. This is more of a potential concern when RH error is negative (which can be caused by PCB heating).

If the RH error is positive, this could be caused by extended exposure to high RH conditions (>70%RH) or potential contamination. To recover the sensors from temporary positive RH error (caused by extended high humidity), I would suggest to follow the Bake/Rehydration Procedure. Try baking the device at 100C, less than 5%RH, for 5-10 hours and see if that recovers the accuracy. Let me know if this helps!

    Best,

    Sakeenah
