Hi,

I have designed and using the following circuit for 220V 50Hz:

The issue that I am facing that the self test is not being passed and I am getting 1.2 sec pulses on the ALARM pin. There is no effect on the self test if the CT is connected or not. The CTs that I am using are ZST065BT with turns ratio of 1000/1 and 200/1. How to debug the situation?

Hi,

The most common cause of selftest not passing is the polarity of wiring being incorrect. Please refer to section 8.2.2, point #1 to see if it offers useful hints.

If you continue to have difficulties, you may use a scope to verify critical waveforms, including VDD, Vout, FT etc. The most critical is to see Vout dips below 2.5V sufficiently when FT pulses high.

Will the self test still do not pass if there is no CT present?

Hi,

The CT is required to pass selftest. The 1000 turn coil generates the fault input signal. The polarity of the 1000 turn, together with the way the LN wire go through the CT, determines fault signal phase relative to line voltage.
