TMAG5170: For door/window magnetic sensor,

Hi expert,

My customer is currently evaluating a door/window magnetic sensor, which needs to detect the distance or angle that a door or window is opened. They want to know if the TMAG5170 chip can be used for this purpose. Is it capable of detecting angles ranging from 0 to 90 degrees? What are the requirements for its installation?

    With a magnet placed on the door/window hinge, TMAG5170 could be placed to detect the angle of rotation. This application note may be helpful:

    Either on-axis or off-axis measurements should be possible for angle calculation.  However, if the magnet is placed on the window or door such that it travels along a large arc then I expect there will be insufficient field to track the position of the door.  In that case we likely would only be able to determine when the magnet is close at a closed position.
