AWR1843BOOST: AWR1843BOOST Board Capabilities

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM, AWR2944EVM, IWR1843

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am a student at the University of Texas at Dallas. I am currently working with my team on a senior design capstone project, and we are discussing the possibility of using the AWR1843BOOST. We want to imitate a radar spoofing attack, with one AWR as the attacker, the other as the victim. I want to know a few things regarding the capabilities of the board:

  1. Can I inject IQ parameters into the attacker AWR to transmit at a frequency that I decide (within 76-81 GHz) to the victim AWR?
  2. Can the AWR analyze IQ data coming from the victim AWR signal? Would I have access to that data on the TI SDK? Can I extract it to MATLAB on my computer directly from AWR?
  3. Do I need to use the DCA1000EVM (or equivalent board) if I want to extract data to my personal device?

If the AWR1843BOOST is a poor choice in this case, I would also love to know if there are other boards recommended that are capable of what I described above (like the AWR2944EVM).

  • Hi Eilon,

Let me check your question and get back to you in a day or two.

  • Hello

Can I inject IQ parameters into the attacker AWR to transmit at a frequency that I decide (within 76-81 GHz) to the victim AWR?

Are you trying to encode the phase/frequency of the FMCW chirps with arbitrary IQ codes?

And then based on some logic you wish to dynamically shift to a different start frequency?

    On your #2,

We do not already have such SW. You will have to implement your own listening logic at the attacker side. You need to figure out how you will sync the RF and the pulse times to do so.

    On #3,

If you wish to obtain the FMCW demodulated ADC data, then you can use the DCA. Else you can program the IWR1843 device to process the data on chip and give you the final processed data over UART or other communication protocol.
