AWR2243-2X-CAS-EVM: Question of POL capacitor physic placement

Part Number: AWR2243-2X-CAS-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2243

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

I am designing 2 AWR2243 cascade HW portiong, and regarding to the decoupling capacitors between PMIC and MMIC, there is a additional grounp of capacitors called POL capacitors, where should I place it physically? since PMIC and MMIC are already have there own output/input dcap.

In the EVM schematic, the POL capacitors are placed nearby MMIC:

  • Hello Tommy,

The highlighted inductor and the caps are part of the secondary filter whereas the remaining caps are the radar supply decoupling caps. The secondary LC filter is there to filter out any switching spurs from the PMIC and it should be placed near the PMIC, not the Radar. Ideally, this section should have been placed near the PMIC in the schematic. Hope this clarifies the intent.

    Thanks,

    Aydin
