Hi team,

We have just purchased the IWR6843AOPEVM and DCA1000EVM.

Our main objectives are to capture raw data and running & debugging applications in the SDK

We came across in the user guide that IWR6843AOP requires mmWaveICBOOST + DCA1000

Can you please confirm

1) Is mmwaveICBOOST mandatory for the objectives i mentioned? Is it possible to capture raw data in the EVM with the DCA1000 alone?

2) If we are using the board for the first time, is flashing the board using Uniflash necessary before proceeding with the data capture?

3)What is the recommended beginner friendly mode for raw data capture - using mmwavestudio or mmwavesdk with ccstudio?

Hello,

When you say capture raw data, just to be certain, you are looking for the I/Q data dumped from the ADC buffer straight from the front end correct? For the DCA1000's purpose is for capturing this data due to the need of a high bandwidth interface in order to transfer a radar cube in the time allotted. The MMWAVEICBOOST allows for debugging techniques like breakpoints as well as loading of .out firmware files in Code Composer Studio.

Yes, by capturing raw data, I mean to acquire the i/Q data from the ADC buffer. So we need not connect MMWAVEICBOOST for acquiring I/Q data, correct? And can you also confirm this: If we are using the board for the first time, is flashing the board using Uniflash necessary before proceeding with the data capture?

Hello,

As long as your IWR6843AOPEVM is Rev G or newer, the MMWAVEICBOOST is not required for raw data capture. Flashing with Uniflash is not required, the flashing procedure will occur within the use of mmWaveStudio which is the tool used for raw data capture.

Thank you for clarifying. I do have the IWR6843AOP EVM REVG, Another question is I see there are two possible ports at the back of the board for connecting the samtec cable, it is not clear from the user guide which one of the port to be used for connecting the samtec cable from EVM to the DCA1000, can you please clarify the same?
