LDC1000 Basic theory

I would like to confirm the basic measurement ofth LDC1000 because I am confused.

1. What does LDC1000 measure directly?
   I think it measure the sensor resonance frequency only. The induncance and the parallel resonance
   impedance are calculatedwith the frequency.
   Is it correct?

2. In the case LDC1000 measure some parameter directy, how does LDC1000 get them?

Details of how the LDC1000 work can be found in the Datasheet on page 8 http://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/ldc1000 and from the brochure found here http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/SLYB212.

I too am curious about the device and watched some the videos found on this page when it was first introduced. http://www.ti.com/sva-psp-ssp-ldc1000-pp-lp-en. I will have to watch them again as a refresher.

You are correct, it does measure the equivalent parallel resonance. All the calculations start on page 9 of the Datasheet. The direct measurement that the device makes would be of the sensors frequency of oscillation by a frequency counter. This is how inductance is measured.

Take a look at the videos, they will provide you with more insight on using the device And the EVM.

And I got the question.

They want to know the retail of how to calculate.

(For example, what is the meaning of LDC configuration register?)

I think it is difficult to open it. If you can, could you please provide it?

Hello Atsushi,

You will have to rephrase your question. I was not able to fully understand what you are asking.

For the LDC, I have only been looking at the data sheets and reading through the forum posts. I have not built my LDC circuit yet nor have I looked at any of the code or software that is available.
