FDC1004 in TIDA-00506 desgin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00506, FDC1004

Dear Sir,

We want to reference TIDA-00506 to do Kick-To-Open.

How to connect from FDC1004 to sensor? ( need connect to GND? )

  • Hi:

All you need is to connect one of the CINx lines to the sensor. We are using the isolated sensor topology as mentioned in the proximity sensing application note. No dedicated GND electrode is required since it will terminate it's electric field to the closest ground potential source.

  • Dear Sir,

We had make the PCBA for sensor. as attached file.
    But the distance only 6cm.
Could you give me some suggest?
    The sensor dimensions is OK?
    Thanks

  • Hi:

As mentioned before in the previous post, we typically use the isolated sensor topology for proximity sensing since ground planes or ground sources nearby the sensor will reduce sensitivity. Please disconnect the GND plane in the middle and check sensing distance. Also, sensing distance will also be affected by using a SHLD. So check out sensitivity with and without the SHLD plane connected.

    Thanks
