TIDA-00508 questions again

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00508

Hi, TI team,

the question is about target disc from this project - there are numbers in a top copper layer - don't they interfere with the layer 3, where is the target itself?

Best wishes,

    Igor Gorbounov

  • Hi Igor,

Yes, the copper numbers on the top of the target are sensed, but as the PCB thickness is 1.6mm, the response from the numbers will be much smaller than the target. They are present for functional clarity and do not need to be in any design.

    Regards,

    ChrisO
  • Chris0, thanks for your answer!

During calibration process in tida-00508, was there used some angle position sensor to measure position? If yes, can you name this device?

    Best wishes,

        Igor Gorbounov

  • Hi Igor,

No specialized equipment was used to calibrate the TIDA-00508. Unfortunately, I do not have any recommendations for an appropriate calibration device either.

    Regards,

    ChrisO

  • Ugh, Chris, I'm sorry for asking again but there are things that I still cannot apprehend:
In tidu953.pdf document in section 5.1.4 and on figure 12 there is explanation of how angle skew errors a1, a2, b 1 and b2 are determined. Further Section 6.1 tells that these values are measured during 4-point calibration process. So it looks like there are only 4 precise measurements. But to get those angle errors you should also measure the angles where signals A and B cross the zero level, that makes another 4 points. Or is there a trick to do this task somehow in some other way? I've almost broken my head trying to understand this moment...
And the last: how this nice formula theta = theta – A^2 b – B^2 a is derived?

    Best wishes,
    Igor Gorbounov
