Start using a LM63LM64LM96X63EVM board, LM96163 channel is no working properly. i.e. only one remote temperature line displayed as flat line (48.125degree C) in plots, and won't change. The other sensor/controller shown room temperature - reasonable.

LM63LM64LM96X63EVM GUI seems not communicate with LM96163 channel well, i.e. intermittent. The other channels look like more responsive to changes from GUI. Replaced U9 with a new LM96163, but not much difference.

Is there any chance that the I2C channel from U1 micro-controller to U9 LM96163 gone bad?

Hi Jason,

I'm currently on a business trip and I cannot look into this too deep but try to desolder U8 and replace it with a LM96163. The two parts, LM96063 (U8) and LM96163 are actually identical, the only difference being register 0x30 Remote Diode TruTherm Enable is enabled on POR for the LM96163, the rest of the registers are the same.

Thank you . Michael. Before replace U8, I tried with LM96063, it worked in controlling a fan, i.e. on/off and speed according to the temperatures. I did modified the DC bias resistors on the evaluation board due to the 24Vdc fan motor.
The TACK (RPM) reading is constant even the fan speed was changing. I suspect that the Fan controller's TACK input may be damaged since 24Vdc was applied by someone else before I made DC bias change, i.e. 10Vdc (from 24Vdc through resistor divider) was applied to TACK input which is rate at max 6Vdc. can you confirm this?

Hi Jason,

The part may be damaged from exceeding the maximum voltage input levels for that pin. Are you using a 4 pin fan with the EVM board?

Yes. It is a 4-pin fan, 24Vdc/1A rated.
