TMP103, meaning of the 7th bit of configuration reg., frozen data register to 0x7f

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP103

Hi,

I have TMP103 - after reset

- From configuration reg (reg1) I read 0x92  - What is the meaning of 7th bit? (there is no infomation in datasheet)

- from data register (reg0) reading all the time value 0x7f , no change with temperature - is any posible explanation for this?

- from limit registers (reg.2,reg.3) I read values specified in datasheet (e.g. -10 and 60 dgC)

Thanks for any reply. With best regard T.M.

  • Are you asking about the ID bit in the configuration register? This bit is read-only, and will always report a 1. It's for TI internal use only.

Thank you for confirming that you can correctly read the limit registers. I don't see a reason for the temperature register 0 to be stuck at 0x7F, unless something very unusual is happening. Is it possible you are setting the device to Shutdown (M1, M0 = 0) within 26ms of power-on? This would prevent the device from completing it's first temperature conversion, and from updating the contents of the temperature register.

    Thanks,
    Ren
