LMT70: LMT70/LMT70A info

Part Number: LMT70

Dear Texas Instruments team,

I am searching for an accurate, sensible and user-friendly system to measure skin temperature in long distance runners during a controlled training session performed on treadmill. According to the information provided in your website, your temperature sensor “LMT70/LMT70A” may fit my goal. However, there are some questions I would like to ask you:

Are the LMT70/LMT70A sensors disposable or reusable?
Which other components other than the LMT70/LMT70A sensors does the system need to work properly (e.g. analog-to-digital converter (MSP430?), sensors charger, micro controller unit (still MSP430?), software for data analysis, etc.)? Since the LMT70 Evaluation Module includes 1 LMT70 and 1 MSP430, should I assume these 2 components are all what the system needs to work?
Can the sensor be directly placed and fixed to the skin with a normal tape or do they have specific requirements? Are they sweat-resistant?
Since I will also use a wi-fi electromyography system during the running measurements, is there a risk of cross-talk between the two devices?
I would be grateful if you could clarify the above-mentioned points.

  • Hi Raffaele,

I will look into this and get back to you.

  • Hi,

Thanks. I will be waiting for your kind reply.

This is up to the designer.

Yes, the EVM is a good start.

Depending on your target design lifetime...this will dictate how much protection you will need to insulate the device from moisture. You don't want to short the pins with sweat for sure.

Since I will also use a wi-fi electromyography system during the running measurements, is there a risk of cross-talk between the two devices?

Any analog circuit will be sensitive to EMI and noise so yes. This is just the nature of the game so you will have to design for it with proper layout.
