AWR1243: CSI2 communication to TDA3x/2x

Part Number: AWR1243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, TDA2

Hi,

I am using two AWR1243 sensor. I want to send the data from both the AWR1243 through CSI2 to TDA3x. I have earlier used CSI2 from one AWR1243 to send data to TDA3x, and it works fine for my application. Regarding this, my question is in 2 parts.

1. How do I connect the two CSI2 lanes from the two AWR1243 sensors to one TDA3x. As of my understanding there in only one CSI2 connection in TDA3x. Is there a standard solution for this? Does TI recommend any specific easy method ?

2. If I try to connect multiple AWR1243 sensors to TDA2x instead of TDA3x, is it easier? Again which is the preferred data interface?

2a. Is there any advantage if I use AWR1642 instead of AWR1243 while communicating with TDA2x? I am asking this because AWR1642 gives LVDS instead of CSI2. Kindly note that I want only the raw ADC data. I am not interested in the processed point cloud data.

Thanks in Advance,

Santhana Raj

  • Hello Santhana,
Yes, I think the TDA3 has a single CSI2 interface. But its best to check on the TDA support team on that. I believe the TDA2 has VIP port, so inorder to connect the AWR1243 to TDA2 you would need to convert the CSI to VIP port using some FPGA or something.
Incase of AWR1642 LVDS capture , you could either convert the LVDS to VIP port of look for some other LVDS capture device like an FPGA.

    regards,
    Vivek
