AWR1642: how to connect a 10 Pin or 14 Pin JTAG?

Part Number: AWR1642

Q1: Below is a standard TI 14 Pin JTAG. If I want to connect 14Pin JTAG to AWR1642, PD(Vcc) is connected to 3.3V, how I can deal with the TCK_Ret, EMU0, EMU1?

Q2: Can we use a 10 Pin JTAG? If use it , can I connect it like the figure below?

Hello Hirain,
The TCK_RET can be just connected to TCK itself. The EMU0/1 pins need not be connected. They can be left unconnected.
Could you clarify which exact 10pin JTAG header you plan to use? Is it the ARM 10pin JTAG connector ? You can refer to the following web page for different JTAG connector pin definitions.

Hi Vivek,

For the 10 pin ARM JTAG connector, the nRESET pin (pin 10) would be left open, correct?

Helllo Vivek:

Really thanks for your reply. In order to minimize the board area, we use a 10 Pin SMT(1.27mm) connector. Now we connect TMS, TDI, TDO, TCK, 3.3V, GND, nRESET to this 10Pin connector. Then we use a transfer to connect the 14Pin connector of XDS100 simulator, or jump lines. We will connect a 10R resistor between the Pin9 and Pin10 of the 10Pin connector (of course, can be depopulated), to be compatible with the RTCK and TCK of the 14 Pin connector. Is this feasible for the JTAG connection of AWR 1642?

14pin Definition：

1：TMS 2：TRST

3：TDI 4：GND

5：3.3V 6： KEY

7：TDO 8：GND

9：RTCK 10：GND

11：TCK 12：GND

13：EMU0 14：EMU1

10pin Pin (We will use)：

1：TMS 2：TRST

3：TDI 4：GND

5：3.3V 6：GND

7：TDO 8：GND

9：NC(Connect to RTCK of 14Pin) 10：TCK

Togeter with the reply above. The specific connection between the 10Pin and 14Pin on our board is shown as below:

Is this connection is OK? By the way, do we need the pull-up and pull down on these lines?

Hello,
In the above connection diagram I would recommend disconnecting the pin 9 of the 10pin connector. it need no be connected to the pin 9 of the 14 pin connector but just left unconnected.
Also, we dont really use the nRESET from the emulator. So pin 2 can also be left disconnected. Other wise it looks fine.

The pulls are not mandatory to have, but they would not cause any problem as such.
