TMP116EVM: SW error While trying to reinstall

Part Number: TMP116EVM

I am getting an error when I try to reinstall the TMP116EVM_GUI SW.  I had originally installed the SW before Lab View was installed so I kept getting a Lab View error.  After installing LV I continued to get the LV not installed error.  So I had windows uninstall the TMP116EVM SW.  When I try to install the SW I now get "Version of TMP116EVM we are trying to install is already installed in the system.  Thus the installer will exit.".

Windows does not show that this SW is installed.  I have tried deleting the directory in  "C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\TMP116EVM" but that will not allow the installer to run.

How can I get the SW to reinstall?

  • Hi Scott,

That must have been frustrating for you. The TMP116EVM GUI is required a LV runtime engine in order to launch the GUI correctly. It was developed and compiled with LV 2016 runtime engine patch f2. Therefore, it is very important that when you install the software GUI for the first time, you must check the LV 2016 runtime option checkbox. It will automatically download the correct LV runtime engine. May I know what version of LV did you install?

If you still having trouble, I can request friend so that we can schedule a webex.

  • It looks like I have Lab View 2017. I downloaded this from the link that was provided by the TI software. If need be, I can uninstall the 2017 version and install the 2016 version instead. But I still need the TMP116EVM GUI to run the application.

The issue I am having is that I cannot reinstall the TI SW and it doesn't appear to be installed. As I stated before, when I try installing the TI SW I get the following message: "Version of TMP116EVM we are trying to install is already installed in the system. Thus the installer will exit.".
  • Also, I can only find the Lab View 2016 f5 patch. Will this work? If not can you please send me the link to the f2 software?

    Thanks.
  • Hi Scott,

Please make sure that you have administration privilege for your computer in order to install the software. When I bundled for the software installation, I made the executible file to run as "administrator".

Unfortunately, LV 2016 runtime engine f5 patch will not for the TMP116EVM GUI since it was compiled for LV 2016 runtime engine f2 patch.

There are two ways that you can download the LV 2016 runtime engine f2 patch.
    1. You can check the checkbox "LabVIEW RTE" in the installation wizard. This will automatically downoad from the link.
    2. Here is the link to download the RTE from NI. ftp.ni.com/.../LVRTE2016_f2Patchstd.exe

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance.

  • HI Scott,

Just want to get back with you if you are able to resolve the issue. If yes, I will close your posted.

    Aaron
  • No, this did not resolve my problem. As I stated in the original post, I cannot re-install the TMP116EVM GUI software. I have running as administrator. I was able to install it once, but then I ran the windows Add/Remove programs to uninstall it. Now, I am trying to re-install it and I get an error.

"Version of TMP116EVM we are trying to install is already installed in the system. Thus the installer will exit."

The program is no longer listed in Add/Remove programs and the .exe is not in the TI directory on my machine.
  • Hi Scott,

Let me take this one offline. I will send you a private session so that we can exhange the information for the webex call.

  • Hi Scott,

My colleague and I tried to install on both PCs for Windows 10 and uninstalled the software GUI. We don't encountered any issue. Sometimes, when you uninstall a software program, it still left the program folder as well as entires in Windows Registry. I know that you already try to remove the folder. You might want to check with IT if you can perform this especially the Windows Registry.

I will work with my IT if they can help with this issue.
