TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: Air Transducers at 1MHz

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hi,
i've recently bought the TDC1000-TDC7200EVM board and i'd like to ask for an advice.
I need to measure the distance between to air transducers and i've connect the BSTEVM on the TDC1000-TDC7200 (i've removed R41 and R42) in order to create pulses at 30 Vpp for them.
For my specific application i need to use air transducers at 1 MHz (or 800 kHz) but i can't find any producer.
Considering your experience in this sector, could you suggest me some producers or, if it is possibile, some air transducers at these frequencies?
Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Luigi

  • Hi Luigi,

Just about any transducer will work in air. However, the issue with a 1Mhz transducer is that 1Mhz signals will attenuate very quickly in air, and limit you to very short distances. This is true even when driven at high voltages.

You can find some transducer manufacturers in this application note: www.ti.com/.../snaa266a.pdf

Quality transducer manufacturers include Steminc, Ceramtec, Audiowell, and Murata. If you contact these suppliers they should be able to help you choose the correct transducer for your application.
