1. The Magnetic Field Calculator tool on the DRV5032 home page (http://www.ti.com/product/DRV5032/description) can help you with your distance calculations based on the specific shape, size, and type of magnet you plan to use. Below is an image of what this calculator looks like.
2 & 3. It is possible that various types of metals near by or used as shielding may affect the magnetic field around the DRV5032 based on their permeability, and therefore affect performance. There are some great free products such as FEMM (http://www.femm.info/wiki/HomePage) to help you simulate this based on your specific situation.
