OPT8241: OPT8241 for fine reconstruction

I would like to know if it using the right optical components, it is possible use this kind of sensor for a very short range (1 to 10 mm) with an high resolution (10- 100 um) or there is any kind of limitation.

    Hi Marco,

    Theoretically our sensor is limited by 12 bits of depth data and the highest supported modulation frequency is 100MHz, which makes the least theoretical resolution to be around 360 micron which is higher than your requirement. If you need to have better resolution than that you will have to do multiple averaging in software. The precision is dependant on the calibration and we do not think it is practical to use ToF solution for this requirement. hope this answers your question.
