TMP423: Will it properly measure the temperature if the cathode connection of an on-chip thermal diode of my remote device is connected directly to its internal chip ground?

Part Number: TMP423

I have an application looking to use the TMP423 to monitor the temperature of a remote device that has the cathode connection of its internal thermal diode connected directly to its chip ground.  Will the TMP423 be able to properly monitor the temperature if it does not have complete control of the thermal diode?  The connection looks like the following.

Thanks,

Brian
