LMT87: Accurate temperature sensing on Mosfet Drain connection

Hi everybody,

the referenced question is basically what I wanted to ask as well. But to get this clear: The Board temperature measured by the suggested LMT87 is on the ground plane. Is there no possibility to measure the temperature on the drain connection of a mosfet?

Frieder,

The GND lead is the sensing element of the LMT87 device. For this reason, it is not possible to measure the temperature on the drain connection of the MOFSET because it is active. As mentioned in the referenced post, For best thermal measurements, place the LMT87 as close as possible to the copper area on the PCB without being exposed to the FET drain lead.
